Protecting Rare Plants from Invasive Growth with Tom Hart Dyke

Watch on House Cinema: https://houseofwillowalexander.co.uk/cinema/protecting-rare-plants-from-invasive-growth-with-tom-hart-dyke The greatest threat to a rare plant collection is no longer limited to harsh winter weather. Throughout spring, summer and autumn, faster-growing plants can spread rapidly, competing for light, water, nutrients and space. Seeds carried by wind, birds and visitors can establish across the garden, turning every growing season into a careful balance between encouraging growth and keeping unwanted plants under control. At The World Garden at Lullingstone Castle, Tom Hart Dyke explains the work required to protect rare and exotic plants from invasive growth. Behind every beautiful botanical collection is patient observation, regular weed management and a deep understanding of how plants compete within a shared environment. A garden collection does not maintain itself. It depends on consistent stewardship and an extraordinary amount of work behind the scenes. #TomHartDyke #LullingstoneCastle #TheWorldGarden #RarePlants #ExoticPlants #InvasivePlants #PlantCollection #GardenStewardship #BritishGardens #GardenLife
